The Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Chhattisgarh is committed to the rehabilitation and welfare of Ex-Servicemen (ESM), their families, widows, and dependents across the state. Working under the aegis of the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB), New Delhi, Ministry of Defence, Government of India and the Home Department of Chhattisgarh govt, we serve as the state-level nodal agency dedicated to supporting our brave veterans and their dependents.
Every State and Union Territory in India has a Rajya Sainik Board (RSB) headed by a senior retired Armed Forces officer (Brigadier/Commodore/Air Commodore). The RSBs operate under the directives of the KSB, New Delhi and respective State Governments, ensuring welfare measures are effectively implemented on the ground. Supporting these are District Sainik Welfare Offices (DSWOs) led by retired officers of the rank of Colonel/Lt Colonel or their equivalents from the Navy or Air Force.
Presently in Chhattisgarh, the Directorate of Sainik Welfare oversees ten District Sainik Welfare Offices (DSWO's) located is Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Raigarh, Jashpur, Jagdalpur, Ambikapur, Baikunthpur and Kanker. These ten DSWOs look after the welfare of ex-servicemen residing in all the districts of the State. Together, we cater for the welfare of over 50,000 Ex-Servicemen and their families, along with widows, dependents, and serving personnel. We proudly honor our 38 Braveheart who have made supreme sacrifice for the safely of the mother land. Chhattisgarh has 19 Gallantry Awardees – brave warriors who have been recognized for their courage and valour. We salute the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our soldiers and their families. The Directorate remains unwavering in its mission to ensure that every veteran and their family receives the dignity, support, and welfare measures they deserve.
